Full Circle

It all started while geeking out to some comedy albums in the nineties. Our infatuation with standup comedy eventually spilled into the comedy clubs throughout New York City. We sopped up all the original specials on Comedy Central and HBO and eventually, we felt there was a need for someone to curate all that content for everyone else. It was arrogant of us to think we knew what was best before we actually knew what was best, but we did have a love for it so you knew it was coming from the right place. Patrick Millgan, booker and Co-Owner of The Stand, created CringeHumor.net as a blog, which set out to be an honest assessment of all the standup comedy out and available for consumption. From albums and specials to sitcoms and live shows. Now here we are 20 years later a blog again, helping you sift through all the comedy available for consumption. 

In this space, we will be talking about what’s new and old. You’ll see announcements, reviews, a first look on up and coming comedians and the inner workings of our process here at The Stand. You’ll be updated on happenings all around the New York City comedy scene. We’ll be your insiders for the comedy industry and get into some of the inner sanctums of our community. As we expand you’ll get to know our comedians better. You’ll learn new things about some of your favorites and learn about some of the people in comedy you didn’t know. 

Additionally, we may drop news about a special pop in at The Stand or somewhere else. We may also produce secret shows and if you are a regular reader of this blog you’ll know when it happens and how you can be part of it. 

We’re excited to be back. We’re excited to be the ones to inform you and educate you about comedy. Someone has to do it! Might as well be us.
