Kilara Sen

Hello! I am Kilara Sen! Hi my Unicorns! I am Kilara Sen, a comedian, MC, and actor from the Far East coast… Tokyo, Japan! I moved to NY with an artist visa as a comedian in June, 2022. I am the host & writer of a series called “Japanese Whisky World” on Dekanta TV and seen on shows including “Paul Hollywood Japanese Food Adventure,” “Asia’s Got Talent,” “Welcome to the Railworld,” and more! Besides standup comedy, I have been adventuring as a bilingual MC, actor, and speaker. I am gender neutral, a survivor, and had a wonderful year at Historically Black Colleges. I was called a tomboy because I was always the first girl with short hair breaking into men dominant fields: Breakdancing, Standup comedy, and men’s bathrooms. Now I am just a proud human being, although they still say, “You’ve got balls!” I am a giant lizard survivor of my Godzilla mom. Mom allowed me to do whatever I wanted after school: math, English, economics, and if I was lucky, quantum physics. Being an only-child, impersonating all Sailor Warriors by myself was my favorite After School program. I won “Only-Child Apollo Theater Award” in my bedroom. After I studied 27hours a day, I finally became depressed and hikikomori . Hikikomori is a Japanese term to mean people who don’t work, don’t study, and stop everything.. otherwise known as a “comedian” in English. However, I have had a soul mate since I was 10 years old: Black Studies and black culture. I studied theater arts at HBCU (Historically Black College and Universities). That experience blew away my stereotypes and got me to notice that the world was much more colorful than just white, black, yellow, and brown: Everybody has own color. I screamed “We are not in Kansas anymore!” ...yes, I was in Virginia. There were no virgins in the lovers' city. I was finally empowered to stand up and do standup. After coming back to Japan, I started my career as a Japanese style comedian, and a few years later, decided to pursue a standup comedy career. During my journey, I gained experiences as bilingual MC, actor, narrator, and speaker... and finally found my own “voice.” Comedy is the place where I can be myself. Comedy is the word in which I can speak my mind. Comedy is the art in which I can pour my life. I'm not going to say my life was crazy, but special. And everybody also has their own road to uniqueness, to become one and only unicorn. If you think pink stands for a woman…I am the NEW PINK. Call me Pink Unicorn. You are all my UNICORNS!! ARGT* for stopping by my page. *My acronym meaning Arigato (thank you).
